In daily life, we often touch trash bin lids, which can be unhygienic and spread germs. I wanted to create a simple solution using technology to make throwing away trash cleaner, easier, and more modern. That’s why I make this automatic smart trash bin.
The Trashbin uses a sensor connected to the micro:bit. When a hand or object is detected near the trash bin, the system sends a signal to activate a servo motor that opens the lid automatically. After a few seconds, the lid closes again.
Everything is controlled using coding on the micro:bit, which acts as the “brain” of the system.
From this project, I learned:
Basic electronics and wiring
Problem-solving and troubleshooting
How to turn ideas into working prototypes
This project shows that even simple technology can create useful solutions for everyday problems. I hope this video inspires other students to explore coding, robotics, and innovation.
